If you want to stay close to the city while enjoying a nice break in nature, Silverdale Creek Wetlands is the place to go. Located right beside the BC Route 7 in West Mission, Silverdale Creek Wetlands offers a 1.3-kilometer trail. Many individuals "flock" to this area in search of birds as bird watching is very popular here.
Don't forget your pup! Dogs are permitted on this trail but must be kept on a leash.
Silverdale Wetlands was assessed in 2023 using the Rick Hansen Foundation (2020) Trails and Pathways rating criteria. The following was observed:
- The trail entrance is accessible.
- Has a designated trailhead.
- Has clear width and passing spaces at regular intervals.
- The path is not paved, however, it is level and low-gradient.
- The bridge features slip-resistant wire.
