Hayward Reservoir Trail

Hayward Reservoir Trail

PLEASE NOTE - IT IS CURRENTLY AN IN & OUT TRAIL (NOT A FULL LOOP). THE BRIDGE IS STILL UNDER MAINTENANCE.  Please click here for the latest updates.

This trail will eventually take you around the entire lake, but for now please choose a side - both are gorgeous and offer decent hikes, but note you will go there and back rather than taking a loop.

RESERVOIR TRAIL - This 3.7km trail there and back wind through forested areas with a quick detour to the Steelhead Falls - a beautiful waterfall with a viewing platform approximately 20 minutes in and well worth the stop.  A great hike with the pups, but they should be kept on a leash at all times.

HAYWARD LAKE RAILWAY TRAIL - This 12.9km there and back hike takes you along the west side of Hayward Lake, following the old railway line.  If you walk to the north of the lake there is a dog beach to give your pups the chance for a little off-leash time and the chance for a paddle.

Golden Rules for exploring our beautiful backyard:

Please ensure dogs are kept on a leash at all times, with the exception of the dog beach.

Please pack in and pack out all garbage.

Be mindful of your surroundings and wear appropriate clothing for the time of year.

Be respectful of others using the trails.

Let others know of your intended route and estimated return time.
